Now the idea of a concept store seems to be something more and more common in Madrid. These creative spaces are used to highlight all kinds of talent, art and expression. Why have a bar? or a clothes shop? or a vinyl record store? when you can have them all on the same premise. Kind of like the ViewMaster toys we had as kids, where with just a click, you would go from slide to slide, immersing yourself in a whole new setting within seconds. Here are two of these places we love in Madrid:

El Paracaidista: Laid out over 4 floors, EP is home to a cinema on the ground floor that shows documentaries and movies in Original Version. And good movies at that, from recent cult classics, to older gems, and even lesser known projects. It’s a great little room, big enough for 20 odd people. Check out their page for the programme, it’s updated every month! If you’re more interested in clothes, than the first and second floor would be more your thing. If you’re hungry or thirsty just keep going up and you’ll find a bar on a terrace on the third floor (Cubanismo) and at the very top you will find Parq, a bar/food joint that serves a very nice Classic Burger. With great views of Madrid’s Skyline it’s definitely worth the visit.

Amen: You may have walk passed this place already, it is very distinctive. With a strong emphasis on the colours black and white, Amen is home to some of the coolest designer clothes and accessories. Similar to Parcaidista, Amen aim to increase the activities on offer on their 320m2 premise, so do stay in the loop for more info.

If you have been to these places and want your opinion to be heard, then check out the links to LocoWeekend Directory and let us know. We encourage any and all of you to voice your experiences.
